Radhika Karandikar, Bharatanatyam, dances to a Soordas (16th century CE) bhajan

श्याम तेरी मुरली नेक बजाऊं

हमरी बिंदिया तुम्ही लगाओ

मैं सिर मुकुट धराऊँ

Radha wants to change places with Krishna. She wants to play his flute. She wants to wear his pitambar. She wants him to wear her bindi. She wants him to drape her chunri. And she is utterly transfixed by his beauty (time t = 6:50) when she has him all dressed up as herself.

This is an exquisite piece of art: the dance, the choreography, the voice, and the music. I am moved to the core of my being. I stop breathing when Radha turns Krishna around. Every time. Every time I watch. There is no dance in those few moments one might say. Or one might say that all the dance there is is in those few moments.

Choreography: Vaibhav Arekar. Voice: Shrikant Gopalakrishnan.
